Community Wonk

Looks like I'm not the only one finding the link between Blogs and open source politics. The dinosaur media has already started to write off the internet AGAIN after Dean's poor showing in Iowa and N.H. Not that I think Wired is a dinosaur, more of the crocodile of the media. It'll still be around after the rest die off.
I'll be attending my first Democratic Caucus this weekend. I'm ready to pitch my hat in for the good Dr. Dean. If the results of Weekday's radio Caucus this morning are any indication, my man Dean will fair well in Washington.
I'm about an hour away from having lunch with King County Executive and Gubernatorial candidate, Ron Sims. More on that after lunch.

You heard it here first:
Blogs are to media what open-source is to software.
Hi, welcome to Community Wonk. Just what is a wonk? From time to time, I'll be posting my thoughts on what I know or don't know about online communities, their culture, how they come to be, and what I want to do with them.
Let's begin:
I had a great time listening to Blogging The President on NPR this evening. I was able to spend some time on MSN Messenger with a good friend while we listened, half the country between us. We were on the phone when the show started, and that's when I thought of the quote you see above. Smart media dinosaurs will learn to evolve and embrace and extend blogging as part of their own content. The others will write it off at their own expense.
